A Special Mother’s Day Lunch

A Special Mother’s Day Lunch

Hello and welcome to Crazy Chic Design! I hope you enjoyed seeing Design Loves Detail beautiful Mother’s Day table! I know I’m inspired! You’ll have plenty of fun seeing all the lovely tablescapes of my friends in this tour put together by my two talented friends, Randi Garrett Design and Kelley Nan.

Things are currently a little busy in our home with a kitchen remodel well underway, but Mother’s Day is just around the corner so I have been working on a table design for a special Mother’s Day lunch! I’m hoping the kitchen will be complete by then, but I’m still planning to host outdoors. I live in sunny California, so we like to spend many days and nights dining outdoors. Today, I want to share some ideas for how to create a beautifully feminine setting to celebrate Mom on her special day.

As you may have already gathered, I just love to use pink in my decor, and there’s no better time for it than Mother’s Day! I have a few staple pink pieces that make it to my table very often, and when I was planning this tablescape I kept those pieces in mind. Copper (or rose gold) is also a color I am loving right now. Naturally, these colors compliment each other well. So, I headed to the market in search of pale pink ranunculus, which are currently in season. I love to use bunches of ‘greens’ in my arrangements, especially eucalyptus. You can find these bunches regularly at Safeway. I also added in some delicate white blooms: classic babies breath and white carnations.

I ended up (as usual), coming home with several bunches of gorgeous florals, and also snipped a few coral roses from the yard. The flowers look so pretty together, so I put them all together in this modern copper basket from HomeGoods while I prepared to arrange them into vases.

Basket of Flowers

I really wanted to use my Nonna’s antique china for this setting (which is delicately pink and floral), but it’s packed safely away in storage and I just couldn’t get to it in time, with everything else going on in the house right now. But, I plan to share it with you in a setting soon. For now, I used my wedding china, which I also love. I layered my plates, and added a pale pink and silver cloth napkin from HomeGoods. Here’s a view from above:

The gold flatware was a wedding gift as well. I wasn’t quite sure of the style (14 years ago), but gold is all the rage these days and I love this set. You’ll always see me mixing metallics in my decor, and this table is no exception! I have used silver, gold and copper together here.

Pink Flowers

My Moscow Mule mugs have doubled as little vases for a fun way to add some copper to the table.

The copper mercury glass vase is another HomeGoods find.

A recent trip to the Gloria Ferrer winery ended in a few lovely bottles making their way home with us. The Brut Rosé is the perfect compliment to my table.

What’s a celebration without a cake? I had the bakery at Safeway frost me up a petite cake in all white and I added my own flowers to the top.

I’ve draped a few green braches across the center of the table, for color and texture.

I hope I’ve shown you how easy it can be to create a beautiful table setting outdoors, using a cohesive color scheme with florals and accessories. Now, I hope you’ll head over to see Kathleen’s beautiful table at Lindsay Hill Interiors. From there, you’ll be able to continually follow the links to all of the other participants in this #MothersDayTableTour. There are 18 bloggers in total, so you are sure to collect a ton of gorgeous inspiration for your Mother’s Day celebration! Here are links to the others:
